In children’s ministry - and in life - dreams are the oxygen for our hearts. Vision breathes life into our spirits, but let’s be honest: it’s the small stuff that actually moves us forward. As the old saying goes, “A dream without a plan is just a wish.” So today, I want to help you dream big and then think small—really small—so your dreams don’t stay stuck in the clouds.

The Power of a Big Dream

Children’s ministry is the perfect place for big dreams! We serve the King of Kings, the Creator of galaxies and giggles alike. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Vision gives purpose, it rallies others to the cause. It’s what drives you to start something new when everyone else is comfortable with the status quo.

Maybe you’re dreaming of an outreach that will touch every child in your community. Maybe you’re dreaming of writing curriculum that will bring Scripture alive for kids. Maybe there is a book you’ve always wanted to write. Or maybe you’re dreaming of a children’s worship night that will lift the roof off your sanctuary. Whatever your dream is, don’t hold back! As Ephesians 3:20 says, God is able “to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”

But here’s the catch: that big dream won’t come true if you’re not willing to think small.
