1. Why a Teachable Spirit Matters in Ministry

A teachable spirit is essential in children’s ministry—not just for the kids, but for us as leaders. Being teachable means we are humble, open to learning, and sensitive to God’s direction. We never “arrive” spiritually; instead, we grow through continual surrender and dependence on the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 9:9 says, “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.” If we want to pour into kids effectively, we must also be vessels ready to be filled and shaped by God ourselves.

Jesus, our perfect example, modeled this heart posture. In Luke 22:42, He prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done.”Even as the Son of God, He submitted to the Father’s leading—an attitude we’re called to reflect.
