PHILOSOPHY of MINISTRY

III. The Building: Utilizing the Program Pyramid

One of the major frustrations of many children and youth leaders is the aimlessness of their ministries. They may not feel that they have no aim, but reach a point where they feel like they are running out of ideas. They plan fun events, add some Bible study and/or prayer, but when the event is over, they are back to square one. Their simple strategy is to plan events and programs and then add to them a spiritual focus or aspect. Ministry in this fashion is at first exciting because many things are going on and the leaders really feel they are making a difference. But over time, this approach will lose its original excitement and the leader will become weary and wondering what to do next as his ideas are running out!
