Topic: Prayer and Reading the Bible

This object lesson uses 2 books to help illustrate what it means to wait on the Lord in Isaiah 40:31

Book Binding Prayer

Objects Needed: 2 books the same size and shape

Lesson:
Isaiah 40:31 says that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. In Hebrew, the language the Old Testament was written in, the phrase "wait on" means to bind together.

What that's saying is if you bind yourself together with God, you will have the strength and ability to handle anything that comes your way. You will be able to soar above any hardship or circumstance that hits you.

But what does it mean to wait upon God or be bound together with him? It means you draw close to him by reading his word and talking with him.
