A penny is also called one cent. How is a missionary like a penny? A missionary is also one SENT.
Needed: A penny, and if you can find it, an oversized penny so that all the kids can see.
Luke 15:8-10, Matthew 28:18-20
A missionary couple came to our church and spoke to the children with this memorable lesson.
They held up an over-sized penny and asked the kids, "What's another word for a penny?"
The kids said "money" and "coin" and then finally someone said "one cent."
"That's right! A penny is also one cent! Now, do you know how a missionary is like a penny?"
There was a slight pause, then the answer came. "A missionary is also one SENT."
"Who sent us? The Lord sent us to be missionaries, and your church sent us as well. You can send us too, and one way you can help is with a gift. Even some pennies would help! So now, any time you see a penny on the ground, put it in your pocket and bring it to church for missions! And pray for us, and think about all the missionaries who are sent. Pray and see if God wants YOU to be ONE SENT!"
