The story of the unacceptable sacrifice of Cain, teaching that all sacrifices are unacceptable to God unless there is shedding of blood. Many people today try to be made right with God through good works, religion, relationships, education or wealth, but since none of these sacrifices involve the shedding of blood, none of them can atone for sin. (Hebrews 9:22) (John 1:29)
