A 6-Session Disciple’s Journey

Following Jesus isn’t a destination you reach. It’s a journey you choose.

How to Follow Jesus is a practical, Scripture-centered discipleship guide designed to help believers establish the essential habits and priorities of a growing relationship with Jesus.

Rather than simply giving someone a book to read on their own, this resource was created to be experienced one-on-one or in a small group with another follower of Jesus. Meet together, open your Bibles, talk honestly, ask questions, and walk through the journey together.

The six sessions are organized around six Waypoints:

WAYPOINT 1 — FOLLOW: How to Follow Jesus
Understand the Gospel as the beginning of a lifelong journey of knowing, trusting, obeying, and following Jesus.

WAYPOINT 2 — WORD: How to Read the Bible
Discover why God’s Word is essential for following Jesus and learn the simple S.P.A.C.E. method for finding personal application in Scripture.

WAYPOINT 3 — PRAYER: How to Pray
Develop an ongoing conversation with God and use P.R.A.Y. — Praise, Repent, Ask, Yield as a practical guide for prayer.

WAYPOINT 4 — TRANSFORMATION: How to Grow
Learn how God transforms us to become more like Jesus as we obey His Word, depend on Him, and learn to overcome temptation.

WAYPOINT 5 — CHURCH: How to Build God’s Church
Discover what it means to belong to the Body of Christ through connecting, baptism, serving, giving, encouraging, and participating in the life of a local church.

WAYPOINT 6 — MULTIPLICATION: How to Be a Discipler
Learn to share your story, explain the Gospel, and help someone else begin following Jesus. The journey ends with a challenge to invite another person to walk through these same Waypoints with you.

Each session includes Bible passages to look up, discussion questions, space for personal responses, a memory verse, practical application, weekly challenges, and opportunities for reflection.

The Scripture passages are intentionally not printed out, allowing participants to use the Bible translation they prefer while developing the important habit of finding and reading Scripture for themselves.
