Thank you so much for your creativity, and willingness to share. It is so nice to get in contact with people who realize that we all have the same goal, reaching children to know and grow in Christ. Because we are a young church with young families, I don't have a huge budget, but we have consistently used the material I have found at Kidology.org. This has been an incredible blessing to me, and the children and teachers that I work with. THANK YOU!!!

This is a very timely article for me.

I appreciate the reminder and challenge to look at what I do through the eyes of a shepherd--I especially appreciate the questions-

What are your programs actually successful at?
What consumes your time?
What, if you stopped it, would no one notice?

This is great food for thought...knowing where my times goes, and evaluating how effective/what my programs are successful at...will help me to set direction and manage myself better.

Thx for another helpful piece Karl!  Now I need to go and think

Thanks Karl for the "Shepherd or Sheepherder?" article.  Came at the perfect time.  Will be taking the time to consider your questions.

I may have to frame this article. It was exactly, exactly what I needed to see right now. You've no idea.

Thanks, Karl!

Thank you for the encouraging feedback. I am so happy this article struck a cord. I would love to hear how these questions impact your ministry. Too often we get stuck just doing what we do and forget about what really matters or what really makes a difference.

Tell me your ideas on how to make your ministry more shepherding...

Wow Karl;

That is so what I needed to hear today.  I am leaving a church where I feel totally burned out to another church where i will be serving in a volunteer role until something opens up where I can be paid.  I weep as I think of the role of the shepherd and how we allow "bells and whistles" to consume our lives (and I love them as well as anyone else.)  But as the call mandates, we are to be shepherds and as a woman pastor (yes we have them, but not everyone accepts us) we will be accountable for that call.  When we get to heaven, God is not going to ask how many neat effects we had, but how we were faithful to Him for lost souls.  Keep it up brother.  I guess you are feeling better?

Yes, I am feeling MUCH better! Thank you for your concern and for your encouraging feedback. I have a real burden for those who are stressing out in ministry, as you said, over the "bells and whistles" while the REAL ministry gets neglected. I am happy to hear you are getting a fresh start... God is very gracious to give us those new beginnings in life, but anyone can start NEW right where they are, but it does take some courage and tough decisions. I pray that God will help you in your new ministry as you establish new patterns in your volunteer role. Thanks again for your feedback.

I have been thinking about this article for a week.  I am not sure what to do with it all yet.  I have been praying and thinking.  Thank you Karl for this "food for thought" .  I'll get back to you as a sort this out .

What a timely word! Thanks for the reminder of my initial call into ministry and shepherding of children. It is time to simplify and assure my focus stays on kingdom work, not busy work.
