I know we've had several topics regarding books to read in CM. As I sit here and continue to recuperate from yesterday (lots of fun... long day), I began to ponder the meaning of life. After that 5 minutes was over, I began to realize that one of the areas I miss out on is really expanding my horizons in ministry through new ideas. To that end, I was wondering if there is anyone out there who would like to start a "Book of the Month" group for Children's Pastors. We would pick a book out and read it over the course of a month. During that month, we would post thoughts and insights on how the book applies to our personal ministries and the kingdom as a whole. I don't think this would take much time (just some reading and a few moments to jot down thoughts) but I know I personally could benefit in many different ways. Not the least of which is getting different perspectives from other readers!

I know this was wordy (it gets that way when I'm tired), but is anybody interested?

Maybe Tannerman can set up a separate Book of the Month Club forum.

Narnia has arrived!

Sounds great.  Not sure I could do everyone but I will get it my best effort.  I will definately review and with anticipation look at everyone comments and feedback.  It is great to get word back from all the books out there now on how people have used them.  I know personally, I read through several and find myself saying that not I expected.  Now I can really find a quick stop to review items.

I know there was a thread a while back with many books listed, did you want to start with a summary (list and count) of those and vote on which one to start with.

sg - you read my mind! I was going to populate a list of about 5 books with a wide range of topics (from children's ministry to overall ministry philosophy). Everybody can vote for their favorite and based on tabulations from a separate accounting firm to ensure fairness (Chapman, Chapman and Chapman), we'll give it a go!

Let's plan on starting our first book May 1st.

If you have a book that you would like to suggest, Private Messenger me. I'll take the top 5 and go from there. Bueno?

I would like to be part of the group as well. I vote for Transforming Children in to Spiritual Champions or Post modern Children's ministry

sounds real good - I believe this will be a way to allow and see what The HOLY SPIRIT can do in and through us.

Praise God

Since conversation is now focused on the May selection for the "Book of the Month" idea, I'm going to lock up this thread to avoid confusion.
