Every Kid Needs At least One Person Who is Crazy About Them!

I was 30,000 feet above the earth...

I discovered an article by a Russian-born American psychologist named Urie Bronfenbrenner. He is still known today for his theories regarding child development. I’m no expert on all his theories or writings, but this article has always stuck with me. I tore out the page and have kept it for years. In it he wrote:

“Each child needs at least one adult who is irrationally crazy about him or her.”

...there is one Bible verse that I shamelessly use completely out of context – admittedly – because it so powerfully communicates my passion for celebrating children and making them feel special.

When I smiled at them, they scarcely believed it,

the light of my face precious to them.

Job 29:24
