Years ago, when cell phones were a new thing, I got a call while driving to visit some family. They said, “Hey! Love these new mobile phones! So glad we could reach you! Our mid-week club teacher is sick suddenly, so can you teach tonight? It’s only about fifty kids and you’ll be on in about an hour. You only need to fill twenty or so minutes – easy for you, right? Teach on anything you want. Thanks! See ya soon!” (click) 

I was in full panic mode. Not because I couldn’t get in front of kids. Not because I couldn’t think of something to teach on. Not because I lacked experience. I was in full panic mode because I had no objects. I had nothing but me. OK, me and God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, yes, of course. But I’m talking about teaching tools! I knew I could be a pretty animated storyteller, but even stories are better with props. 

So, what did I do?
