Hi ~Contact.FirstName~

I’m a Children’s Pastor Again!

After enjoying several years full time at Kidology as a work-from-home Dad while my son was young, I’m excited to announce that I have accepted a position as Children’s Pastor at The Rock of Southwest in Littleton, Colorado. I am stepping into the shoes of a wonderful children’s pastor who is moving away and am inheriting a fantastic team to work with. The church is growing and excitement is in the air!

I am looking forward to turning to Kidology.org, as many of you do, for much needed help and advice as I head into this new role. Kidology.org was born over 20 years ago as a way for me to share what I was doing, seek input, and learn from others while encouraging other children’s ministry leaders to do the same. This season out of full time pastoral ministry has been a treasured time for my family, and I’ve been able to create many helpful resources that I couldn’t while a full time pastor, such as the Handbook, Cookbook and DiscipleTown, but I’m beyond excited to be once again joining the ranks of those who minister to kids week in and week out while equipping others to do the same.

I ask that you continue to contribute to Kidology’s discussions and sharing your ideas – I’ll be needing them!

Adopted! Single Lesson

Adopted! is a SINGLE LESSON by Karl Bastian, exploring Bible characters that were adopted, from Moses to Jesus. This self-contained lesson is ideal for teaching on Mother's Day, Father's Day, or anytime you'd like to illustrate adoption as a picture of salvation.

The theme of this lesson is based on Ephesians 1:5: "His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave Him great pleasure."

Kids will learn that the adoption offers protection, provides for the needs of a person, and shows that they have a divine purpose. Every believer has been spiritually adopted into the Family of God for the same reasons. Every Christian is Adopted!

Invite Them In Special Needs Ministry eBook

Ministry to kids with special needs is more than just accommodating these children who often struggle to integrate into the normal programming—it is ministry to their parents as well. While we look for solutions to the challenges they provide us for a few hours, their parents wrestle all week with how to best care for their children, while at the same time wanting to guard their child’s precious heart from any negative thoughts or conclusions they might make in response to how they are welcomed or loved by others.

When you eagerly welcome and enthusiastically love on these children, you not only make a difference in their lives, but you bring much needed blessing and encouragement to their parents. It is my prayer that you will become a HERO to these kids and their parents by applying the practical ideas in this book.

Why You Need to Become a Student of Pop Culture

Children today follow and are excited by what is popular in culture. How much of this "pop culture" should a children's ministry leader know or be familiar with? How does this affect your ministry to kids? Matt Norman gives you 4 reasons why you need to become a student of pop culture to benefit the kids in your ministry.

"Ok, I’ll be straight up. There are things that my kids enjoy, are into or watch that I simply am not into. In fact some of it I don’t get and am completely not interested in. But, my kids and the kids in my church need me to do what I can to become a student of pop culture.

What is pop culture? And why should I care? There are a number of reasons why we should make ourselves students of pop culture. Let’s take a look at some of them."
