Keeping Busy Volunteers Equipped and Encouraged!
You're busy. Your volunteers are busy. (So are the kids!) But that doesn't have to mean you can't consistently keep them equipped and encouraged so that your children's ministry is always improving! Here are some quick ideas for how you can keep your busy volunteers both equipped and encouraged in the midst of our hectic world.
- Start a closed Facebook group for your volunteers - even busy people are on Facebook! Post pictures of volunteers serving, post encouraging Bible verses or quotes in addition to church announcements or ministry needs. Sometimes you have to go where they are, and most likely they are on Facebook!
- Start a YouTube channel where you take no more than five minutes once a week to encourage, give announcements, and add something fun - even a prize they can claim if they say a key word you provide at the end of the video. Send out the link via e-mail, Facebook, text, etc. - keep it short, helpful and fun, and they'll watch!
- Revive the hand-written note. Once a week send out just two or three hand written notes to a volunteer to let them know they are appreciated. Again, you can keep it short. If your hand hurts, consider using an app like Felt to send high tech personalized encouragement through the old fashioned mail.
