What is Easter Anyway? In our culture, Easter has become synonymous with Spring, and everything that's associated with the warmer season. Spring is about new life, green grass, bunnies, eggs and chicks... and of course, candy has acquired a significant role in celebrating this holiday. But is that what Easter is all about? As Christians, we know there is a deeper meaning to this holiday. We celebrate the death and resurrection of our Savior. This is the most significant holiday of our faith, and yet too often we allow it to become watered down by all the commercialism that floods our stores. There is nothing inherently wrong with these traditions, and they definitely make the holiday fun and exciting for the kids. But we must be careful, both in the ministry and at home, that we aren't focusing on the tradition more than the Gospel message.
Take time this Easter season to explain the significance between our cultural traditions and the real meaning of Easter. And if you're looking for a fun way to present this to your kids, check out What is Easter Anyway?, a fun Toybox Tales video that explores the various aspects of Easter, including the true reason we celebrate.
