Why Minister to Children?

As a pastor, once in awhile I got the opportunity to preach in "Big Church," and always enjoyed it very much. With a degree in Bible theology and a love for the Word of God, it's always fun to get to challenge adults in ways that you can't in children's church.

Afterward, it is customary for the preacher to stand at the back and greet people as they leave, and in the course of doing so, people are kind to express thoughts on the message and often compliments.

One day, someone said, "You know, you should consider becoming a REAL pastor some day... You know, to adults. You're good."

The intention is an extra big compliment - but the message is clear. My talents are being wasted down there in the boiler room preachin' at the kids week in and week out, when I could really be changing the world ministering to adults. Adults who, most likely will compliment me on a sermon well delivered, and change little in their life as a result.
