We were sitting in a Max & Erma's to enjoy a meal, and as a nice twist of fate, this strangely mature-looking college-aged young man was treating his pastor to the meal.  He met me in person to pick up He Pointed at Methe Moody Bible Institute reference I had written for him in.

Noah was one of my "krew kids," all grown up and heading to Bible college to prepare for a life of ministry. I was bursting with pride. Mostly godly, but some fleshy too. I couldn't help it. I had taken this boy under my wing when some others hadn't seen his potential.  In him, I saw only myself as a boy.

We enjoyed our meal, caught up on the years we'd been apart, and finally, I had to ask, "So what made you decide to go to Moody and go into children's ministry?" Instead of answering, he did something that will always be a lifetime memory, and I'll admit the pride burst a little more. '

He simply pointed at meFind out why...

Partnering with Parents at D6 Conference: September 15-17
D6 Conference"If you were asked, 'Do you partner with parents?', it's been my experience that you are most likely to answer, 'I try,' notes Karl Bastian in a recent blog post.   "And if I were to ask you, 'How do you partner with parents?', you are likely to list types of events you've done, resources you've sent home, or things that you've tried once, but didn't seem to quite pull off."

"My guess is that when it comes to the concept of partnering with parents, you feel defeated, or in a quandary as to how to do it. You are not alone! What if you could say with confidence, 'YES! We partner with families in my church.' I believe you can.

"That is why I'll be at the D6 Conference next week speaking about it. But be warned, it may just change the way you approach partnering with parents."

DiscipleTown #8 - How to Pray
"How to Pray"How to Pray, Unit 8 in the DiscipleTown Kid's Church curriculum series from Karl Bastian and DiscipleLand, is now available!

Prayer is a familiar topic to children - but do we truly teach children how to pray? For too many Christians (of any age), prayer is reserved for times of trouble or cursory meal blessings, but prayer is so much more.

In order to give children a simple mental framework, break down the many aspects of prayer into four areas, each starting with a letter of the word "PRAY" - Praising, Repenting, Asking, and Yielding. While there is certainly more to prayer than can be captured in four simple words, each lesson will expand on the broader aspects to show kids that they will enjoy a lifetime exploring the power and the joy of connecting with God!

FREE "Jesus in My Neighborhood" Lesson and Video
Jesus in My Neighborhood
Kidology Premium Members can download the final installment (Part 3) in the Jesus in My Neighborhood series by Karl Bastian.  This FREE lesson includes outline, PowerPoint, and MOV video file.

While the first two videos in this series were "puppet interviews," showcasing a puppet incorrectly answering the questions, "Who is Jesus?" and "Who is Your Neighbor?", this third video takes a more serious and touching approach with a puppet being visited by Jesus during his bedtime prayers.
