Super Dad? Maybe Not. I was
recently watching Superman Returns on DVD with my 4-year-old son Luke. He loved
it and asked to watch it over and over!
Then yesterday, I was wearing a Superman shirt and Luke
pointed at me and said, "Look, Dad, you're a hero!" Bursting with pride, I put my fists on
my sides like the Man of Steel, puffed out my chest, stood as tall and
dignified as I could, and proclaimed, "Yes, I am Super Dad, flying around
saving airplanes in distress!" My son took one look at me and
said, "Well, maybe toy airplanes, Dad," and went back to playing. I wasn't too crushed. It was a pretty
honest assessment of my abilities and I'm sure I'm still a hero in my boy's
eyes, even if I can't fly into the sky and save real airplanes. But I can't help wondering how often we downgrade our own Heavenly Father's hero status? Do we ever say to God, "Well,
You can't do THAT, but maybe you can do this." Do we ever underestimate or
doubt His abilities? Indeed He IS faster than a speeding problem and able bend
any trial with His bare hands. Perhaps we need to trust Him more. Just something to think about this

Movie Review: The Karate Kid
| "Life is tough for 12-year-old Dre Parker," notes CP Team member Nancy Keith in her review of the familiarly-titled The Karate Kid.
"The only way his mother can keep her job is to relocate from Detroit to
Beijing, China! ...At the park he meets a young female violinist,
Mei Ying. Their conversation incites the wrath of a thug, Cheng, who
with his friends, give Dre a hefty kung fu beating for befriending the
girl... He has no where to turn until a maintenance man, Mr. Han, steps in to
help him."
As with all Kidology movie reviews, we provide children's ministry-oriented teaching tools such as an overview, areas of concern, teachable themes with scripture, and discussion questions.

How do you determine Kid's Worship Music?
| Forum member Wayne Stocks asks, "What is appropriate for children's worship
music?"
"Are drums and "worldly beats" OK? If so, why? If not, why not?
Should children use the same worship music as adults? Is "secular"
music OK?"

Movie Review: Marmaduke
| "Phil Winslow has landed the perfect job working for an organic dog food company in Orange County, California.
First things first, he must move his family -- wife, two daughters, son and his dog, Marmaduke -- from Kansas with the promise that everything is going to be so much better...more money...better opportunities...a whole new way of life. Not everyone is happy about the move."
This is the setup for the film Marmaduke, which hasn't exactly set the box office on fire, but does have some redeeming qualities.
