My Solo Sabbatical

Yosemite in WinterAs you read this, I'm finishing up a personal sabbatical at Yosemite National Park.  It's been a lifelong dream to experience Yosemite in winter!

Yosemite is not only one of the most spectacular places on earth and a photographer's paradise, but in winter, the word "wonderland" doesn't do it justice. But getting there in winter has always been something that just wasn't possible financially or logistically.

That was until my good friend Jessica Klinker, a member of the Kidology CP Team, asked me to come to Lodi, CA to equip and encourage her volunteers.  Hmmmmm... the same church that we stopped at for lunch on the way to Yosemite Summit last May?  Suddenly, my "impossible" dream of going to Yosemite in winter wasn't so impossible! Soon, God and I had a date for my own little 'Yosemite Summit for 2'.

I know not everyone can get away in winter, but it's creating personal times like this that prompted the desire to start our "unconference" retreats -- Yosemite Summit and Unbridled -- both taking place in May.

What are you waiting for?

Just 4 spots left for Unbridled, a Kidology Women's Retreat
Unbridled"When we are in Kids Church all of the time, we often find ourselves without time to worship and focus on the Lord

Now don't get me wrong, we worship in Kids Church; but as a leader, I often find myself eyeing my volunteers to direct their attention to the need of a child, looking at who is at the door or simply distracted..."

- Children's Pastor Kim Bobb, via the Unbridled Blog

Do We Have A Target?
Target
From the Kidology Forums, Corey Erickson writes: "At the beginning of this year the Children's Ministry at our church got together and decided to become more intentional.

We decided that we wanted to specifically plan what a child was going to be like by the time they left our ministry and moved into the Youth department.

I was wondering if any of you have a plan like this and wouldn't mind sharing it."

"How to Follow God's Plan" - DiscipleTown Unit #5
"How to Make Good Friends"DiscipleTown Unit 5 is now available for immediate download!

"
How to Follow God's Plan" is the latest installment in the DiscipleTown Kid's Church curriculum developed by Karl Bastian and DiscipleLand.

Many people, including Christians, settle for a very self-focused life goal -- to arrive at death safely, with as much comfort as possible along the way. This is hardly God's best! Though the world offers fun and excitement, only the Lord's plan promises deep, rich fulfillment. We can help kids elevate their perspective to see that life can be thrilling when they follow God's plan.

This stand-alone unit is a 4 or 5-week series that will help your kids discover God's will for their lives! They will learn that growing in Biblical knowledge, in Christlike character, and in godly conduct are key to fulfilling God's wonderful plan.
