Volunteer-Focused Workshops

A long-standing tradition of Kidology University is our volunteer-focused workshops, designed to provide you tools and skills you can actually use the next day! We're proud to offer 30+ individual workshops that you can choose from, spread over 5 session periods during the Saturday portion of the conference. You may also choose to follow various areas of focus, such as administration, music, family ministry, and more!

If you attended the Leadership Labs on Thursday and Friday, you may want to continue your leadership training on Saturday with workshops taught by Dave & Renee Garda.

Workshop Session #1
10:00 - 10:50 a.m.

  • To Infinity and Beyond: Improving Your Total Kids' Church Experience
    Topic Focus: Environmental / Room Appearance

    Sunday mornings are often our best opportunity to demonstrate what we provide for kids and families. What do kids say about their Sunday morning experience? How would adults describe what they see? From environments, cast, crew, and content – you'll be inspired to let your creativity run wild.

  • Kidology 101: Effective Relational Ministry To Kids

    Kidology is the study of kids and their world. To be an effective minister to today's children, one must learn to do it from within the context of their culture. A working knowledge of a kid's world is an inroad to their heart. Learn how to relate to kids and keep up with their ever-changing culture.

  • The Bible With Balloons 101

    If you never used balloons before, this workshop is for you. See how balloons are twisted and shaped to keep kids on the edges of their seats. You'll learn the basics of ballooning, while tying into Bible teaching and illustration. Discover what the ideal balloons, pumps, storage devices, and makers to purchase. You'll learn how to create the alphabet, make a fishing pole, build a ladder and create a cross. This workshop is great for first time 'twisters'.

In a generation that is icon driven, the "mouse-click graphic" is essential to get your ministry the visibility and exposure it deserves.

  • Foundations: Helping Families with Their First Ministry – Their Kids

    Most children's pastors when asked "Do you partner with families?" answer with "I try..." Partnering with families is the most difficult part of children's ministry. The responsibility of spiritual nurturing belongs to parents, but the church is caught between needing to provide teaching versus taking it over. This workshop will provide insightful ideas for how you CAN genuinely "partner with families" and be able to answer, "YES! I DO!"

  • The Power of Stories

    Ron uses simple and fun objects to teach the kids the Bible. By focusing on the use of a concordance, you can learn how to use sports equipment, gloves, rings, money, and other props to keep the attention of kids. Learn how to associate a Bible verse with each object and where you can find these teaching tools in your very own garage or basement. You'll need high energy to keep up!

    How do families and children's ministry connect as we work together to invest spiritually in children and each other.
