Kid U proudly features presenters that communicate effectively with those on the front lines of ministry... volunteers. Get to know the presenters of our Volunteer-Focused Workshops. Real-life children's pastors and ministry professionals combine to offer teaching experiences that provide ideas and techniques that you can actually use!

Each of the following presenters will be teaching Volunteer-Focused Workshops on Saturday, October 4.

 

Tim BaloghTim Balogh is a full-time Pastor of Family & Children's Ministries of Northpointe Community Church near Lansing, MI. Tim is a trainer and encourager at conferences around the country, but his favorite place to be is in front of kids at his home church teaching them the Bible creatively and training them to love & serve God. In his workshops Tim brings the joy of Children's Ministry to life with creative and practical ideas along with principles that will challenge your ministry mindset. [NorthPointeKids.org]

 

Karl BastianKarl Bastian has over fifteen years of experience as a full time children's Pastor in large, small, and mobile churches. He is also the founder of Kidology.org, one of the leading Internet destinations for those who minister to children. He has a Bible Theology degree from Moody Bible Institute and a Masters in Children's Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Karl is an author of and contributor to several children's ministry books and magazines, a trainer and encourager at conferences around the world, but his favorite place to be is in front of kids creatively teaching them the Bible and training them to serve God. Kim BobbKim Bobb is the Pastor to Children and Their Families at New Albany First Church of the Nazarene (New Albany, OH). Her upbeat style and enthusiastic joy for the Lord allow her to minister to kids on a relational level. Kim's true passion is leading kids in worship. Dick CriderDick Crider has been a Christian Education Consultant for more than 20 years and has trained over 50,000 teachers. He has led workshops throughout the United States and Canada at national conferences and local churches. Dick has served as a Children's Pastor and Director of Christian Education in three churches. He is a recipient of the INCM "Excellence in Ministry to Children" award and says his passion is seeing teachers and leaders come alive when they gain an understanding of how God can use them in the lives of children. Ron FugleRon Fugle is a Children's Entertainer (Island Lake, IL) with a focus on juggling, balloon art, and magic. A member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians as well as the International Jugglers Association, Ron's enthusiastic approach engages kids as he teaches. He has conducted workshops for AWANA, Kidology University, and other events showing how these talents can be combined with a strong Biblical message to keep kids on the edge of their seats. Dave & Rennie GardaDave & Rennie Garda are Missionaries of Encouragement with Cadre Ministries (Sycamore, IL). They have a passion for equipping and encouraging volunteers who need help with their ministry yet lack resources for traditional training. Dave holds a Masters degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and is an author of various training tools, while Rennie serves as a coach, trainer and volunteer encouragement specialist. Debbie GeorgeDebbie George is a Children's Evangelist at New Life Church (Yorkville, IL). This allows her to pursue her true passion – telling children about God's love. She is also the director of The Merry Hearts Clowns and leads them in many outreach opportunities. Debbie and her husband Ron live in Montgomery, IL and have three grown children - Jamie, Andy, and Molly. [NLCYorkville.org]

 

Todd LiebenowTodd Liebenow is a talented puppeteer who has been performing and ministering with puppets since 1984. Todd and his wife Amie are the owners of One Way Street, a major producer of children's ministry and puppet ministry resources. Todd is a writer and producer of many puppet ministry resources including the books Puppetizing, Sensational Shadows, Let There Be Blacklight, and the training DVD "Puppet Ministry Basics and Beyond." Todd also provides the voices for many of the characters in One Way Street's recorded products. Todd is from Highlands Ranch, CO. [OneWayStreet.com]

 

Michael MartinMichael Martin and his wife, Heidi, created the TruthQuest Children's Ministries in 1999 with the intent to create a new, exciting, and novel approach to children's ministry. He graduated from the Denver Art Institute in 1989 and worked as a graphic artist for the King Soopers advertising department before becoming a full-time church staff member in 2000. Through God's blessings, TruthQuest is now reaching into many churches across the nation. Standing at over 6' 5" tall, Michael is often asked some fairly predictable questions. The answers? "Six-foot-five, the weather's fine, and I DON'T play basketball!" [TruthQuest.net]

 

Alan RootAlan Root is basically harmless, although he is taller than he looks on his recordings. At 54 years of age, he still appears to be 53. He writes songs and plays keyboards, guitars and drums well enough to fool most people. He likes basketball, watercolor, hiking, popcorn, old books, old movies, anything caramel, strong coffee and Bugs Bunny cartoons. He and his wife Emily have two daughters, Beka and Molly, who found two great guys to be their husbands, Chris and Peter. Alan and Emily live just south of Nashville, north of a herd of cows. For the last two decades, Alan has been traveling the Northern Hemisphere telling kids about the love of Jesus with rock and roll, Biblical teaching, and spontaneous laughter. Rob SiebertRob Siebert is the children's pastor at the Mt. Pulaski Christian Church, a smaller rural church located in central Illinois. Rob, who graduated from Lincoln Christian College and Illinois State University, is also a full-time elementary teacher in the same smaller town. When not at the church or at school, he can be found playing with his three children – Elizabeth, Emily, and Daniel. Through working in a church and school setting, as well as his love of the theater, Rob has learned the importance of how to grab children’s attention, and how to do so on a small budget.

 

Kris SmollKris Smoll is the Director of Discovery Land, the children's ministry of Appleton Alliance Church (Appleton, WI). She obtained her bachelor's degree in Christian Education from Moody Bible Institute and was licensed in the Christian and Missionary Alliance in 1992. Kris has worked to develop a well-balanced Christian Education ministry that will impact the full family for Christ. Kris also has a passion to challenge volunteers to grow to their full potential in Christ while serving. [Discoveryland.org]

Noel AscencioNoel Ascencio has been in ministry for 17 years sharing the gospel with creativity utilizing Pantomime, Magic, Drama, Story Telling, and Chalk Art. He has presented workshops in several states as well as multiple locations in Mexico and Cuba. Presently he serves as the Associate Pastor of a church in Santa Ana, CA. His focus is on the Children’s and Youth ministries.


Susana Orellana is the Spanish Director for the Jr. High kids at Plenitud De vida in Libertyville, IL.  She has been part of the Kidology conferences for the past two years.  Kidology changed the way she saw Children's ministry and allowed her to bring "Ninologia" to Spanish Speaking Churches, providing them with new and fresh ideas to make their ministry truly focus on the kids.
