Kidology Tech Support

Having problems logging in? Having a problem with a specific area of the site? We are here to help. Please read this page CAREFULLY and follow the steps to resolve your problem. If none of the steps here resolve your problem, please complete the form below and submit and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Please select your question or problem from the following list:

"HELP! I can't log in!"

"I'm getting an error message or strange display." (not related to log in)

"Angry gerbils have taken over my computer!"

"I have a technical problem not listed above."

"HELP! I can't log in!"

IF YOU CAN NOT LOG IN, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEPS.
If you have not tried these steps first there is not much we can assist you with via e-mail. These steps will resolve most issues. It is worth the time to follow these carefully.

  1. CONFIRM YOUR LOGIN INFORMATION. Check your membership receipt. OR visit the Forgotten Password page and request your log in information to be emailed to you. If your e-mail has changed, you need to log in under the old e-mail and then go to your profile and edit your account information and change it there. From then on, you will be able to log in under the new e-mail address. For security, support reps can not process e-mail changes simply by request, you must confirm you are the owner of the account by logging in and changing it.

Your username is the e-mail you provided when you joined. The password is the password you chose when you joined. Username and passwords are case sensitive, meaning upper and lower case DO matter. For example: Moses@kidology.org will NOT work if moses@kidology.org is the account's e-mail address. Your forum ID has nothing to do with logging in, it is simply your 'identity' in the forum, a way to keep your name and contact info private while still being reachable via the private message boards there.

AOL USERS NOTE: you can not log in with your 'screen name,' you must add @aol.com to the end of your screen name when you are on any non-AOL website.

  2. IS YOUR MEMBERSHIP AN INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP OR A GROUP MEMBESHIP? The most common log in problems are due to confusion over being a member of a group account. (If you have an individual membership, professional or volunteer, you can skip this step.)

    1. Are you the Administrator? Your log in information is yours only. Do not give it to members of your group. That is your personal membership with access to all the account settings and the ability to see the member list of your group. If you are the administrator you NEED to read the Group Membership Administration page and use the form letter there to instruct your group members how to join themselves.

    2. Are you a member of a group? You need to register in the Membership Center as a member of the group. Basically, you need to join the site, the only difference is, you don't have to pay! You will need the account ID and the 'answer' to a question that only your group would know. Then you just join providing your own email, password and forum ID. It may be faster and easier to contact your account administrator first. If you have not registered, we will have no way to assist you.

    3. You used to be an individual member but now want to join as part of a group? If you had an individual membership in the past and you try to join as a member of a group with the same e-mail as the past individual membership, you will get a message saying, 'The user already exists in the database. Please try another username or email address and sign up.' In that case, you need to submit the form below, confirm as much information about the previous membership to confirm that it was yours, and request that the old membership be deleted so that you can register as a member of the new group membership. Or use a new and different e-mail address.

  3. Try a different browser. It is best to use one of the popular browsers. We know the site works with the most recent versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, and Safari.* COOKIES must be enabled for the log in to work. You may have your browser security settings set too high.
*Safari, the new Mac browser, has some minor display/graphical issues, but the site functions fine.

  4. Try a different computer. If you can log in on a different computer, the problem is not with your membership account or settings, it is with your computer. If the problem is only on your computer, try deleting your cache, all cookies, and rebooting before you try again. Make sure you have the latest version of the browser you are using.

"I'm getting an error message or strange display."

  1. Hit refresh in your browser. Does this allow you to get to the intended page?

  2. Check the URL address you entered. If you are entering in a specific URL, are you sure you typed it correctly? Any typos in the page address will generate an error.

  3. Close and re-open your browser. Sometimes simply closing and re-opening your browser will fix a problem reaching a certain page.

  4. Try a different browser. It is best to use one of the popular browsers. We know the site works with the most recent versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, and Safari.* COOKIES must be enabled for some pages to work. You may have your browser security settings set too high.
*Safari, the new Mac browser, has some minor display/graphical issues, but the site functions fine.

  5. Try a different computer. If you can access the page on a different computer, the problem is with your computer. If the problem is only on your computer, try deleting your cache, all cookies, and rebooting before you try again. Make sure you have the latest version of the browser you are using.
If you have to contact us for additional help, please make sure you take note of the exact error message you recieved, the full address of the page that generated the error, and the action or series of actions you took before the error appeared.
