IT'S
NOT JUST THE RIDE
Even
though it wasn't a regular stop, the bus driver pulled over
and invited a woman on board because she was carrying a large
and obviously heavy box. When she explained that she didn't
have money for the fare, he insisted she ride for free. She
struggled to enter the bus, and then took a spot toward the
middle of the bus. A few blocks later the bus driver noticed
she was still struggling to hold the large heavy box in her
arms, so he asked, "Ma'am, why don't you set the box down
and have a seat?" She replied, "Kind sir, I am so grateful
that you stopped to give me a free ride, I didn't want to
bother you with my load as well." She failed to realize that
once she accepted the free ride, he was already carrying her
burden as well. This Thanksgiving, don't merely thank God
for accepting you and giving you the free gift of salvation,
but set down whatever burdens you may still be insisting on
carrying yourself. He's already got your burden. Why not set
it down and take a seat? Be thankful not only for the ride,
but for the load He offers to carry for you.
