Here's a picture of my desk...I'm falling into the "a bit cluttered" category.

What does your desk look like?

I subscribe a bit to the "A Perfect Mess" style of organization - piles aren't always bad. Did you know the 90% of the things that are filed are never looked at again?

I see your buddy barrel in the picture.  I stopped and looked, I have 6 buddy barrels and 1 BGMC bank box on my desk, and lots of paper.

OK...so 20 minutes later here's my desk.

Buddy went home...in a drawer.

I still have a pile, but it's a lot cleaner. It is amazing how bad things can get.

Mine is pile city...My pastor is ok w/ 1 small pile.  However, I have learned the art of "filling the drawers" so it only LOOKS clean.  And yes, there is a Buddy on my desk...

Hey, I always say piles, not files! I should take a pic of my associate pastor's office there is one path in and one path out and this guy is extremely organized with everything else! But, you would never believe it if you looked in his office window!

Just so you can see my Yoda better...yes his head is a bowl. It was my favorite christmas present this past year...

Also, there is a book out called "A Perfect Mess", it's an interesting suggestion into the time managment and orginization world. Part of what it actually advocates that the time it takes you to be superorginized is small once you take into account how long it takes you to get that way...

I have heard it said before that the way your desk looks, speaks to people who walk by.  Is there truth in everyone's opinion or is that just someone complaining?

As I said before, I am decently organized but get the help of other people in my weakness.  However, people seem to complain on cleanliness and organization of the office area.

I see your COURAGE poster... you MUST check out www.despair.com but be prepared to spend a lot of time laughing, and you should subscribe to the free podcast.

the best link is here where you can just read all the posters, such as:

I guess compared to most of you my desk is boring.  I don't keep toys, pictures, or fun stuff on my desk.  There are however several piles of stuff that I'm currrently working on and most days you're lucky if you can tell what kind of material the desk is made of.

I have a small file organizer in the corner of my L-shaped desk for current projects that I am not working on at the moment (right now it contains a file for our fireworks stand, kidz kamp, and a school commitee that I am serving on)  The piles on my desk are things that I hope to work on today even though I know that some will probably be put off until tommorrow.  Most of these piles contain files which will eventually make it back into my file drawer when completed or possibly the corner file if I know it will be several days before I get back to them.  However, I am usually going back and forth between the various projects as phone calls get returned, the next idea pops into my head etc.

There is also one pile of miscellaneous stuff that has not been filed yet.  Some of this stuff will probably be trashed the next time I sort through it because I will decide it's not worth the time to file it away.

By my telephone is a pile of old messages.  One of these days I will get some of the numbers entered into my address book for future reference and these notes can be thrown away.

I also have a pile of stuff in the front corner of the desk of things that need to go back to my house.  I am constantly bringing things back and forth to the church and unless they make it into this pile they get absorbed into the Children's Ministry supplies and I will never see my personal items again.

The other items on my desk are: three cofee mugs (one of them was just given to me and needs to go home), my phone charger, remote controls for my TV and DVD player (I am often previewing video clips or downloading them to a computer that sits on another desk while I work on something else), a stapler, tape dispenser, note pads, and a couple of Bibles.

It seems like I am always multi-tasking. I am always processing an upcoming event, lesson, etc. in my mind while I work on something else and when an idea comes to me I need quick access to the right file to get it down while it's fresh.  I know a lot of people work on one project at a time and complete that one before starting the next one.  I have never worked well that way.  My mind moves a thousand miles an hour and when a thought pops into my mind I need to find the right file and jot it down quickly before my mind is on to something else.

My desk is my work space.  I do however have pictures, toys, etc. displayed in other areas of my office.  The only toys you might occassionally find on my desk are those that will be appearing in an upcoming lesson.

Gerry

If my desk wasn't fun and filled with fun stuff and lots of pictures, I think work would be very boring! I love my big desk and my assortment of stuff!

Busted out the Mr. Sketch markers today to make some posters for some upcoming graduations!!!

That picture with the markers is HILARIOUS!!! Related to you Mr Kidologist?

Couldn't upload pictures, it said the images were to large (690) and had to be 500 or less and I'm still Mac challenged in many areas...but here's a description anyway!

My office is in my home due to some water problems where my office at church was. So "Dell" shares a room with "Mac"!   So far there hasn't been to much fighting.   I love that I can switch between the two computers just by rolling my chair around. It's Awesome!!

Some Hilarious posting. I just got a beautiful new office and I am determined to keep it immaculate which means that when the day is over, my desk is orderly. (although I do need to work on my files inside all my file cabinets)

I have a beautiful desk which is about 1 year old. Everyone who comes in my office says, "Wow! What a beautiful NEW desk" I say, "It is not new...it was hiding before under piles, toys, piles, toys...no more!

Same for my home office.  I have been in school full-time as well as working at the church full-time. Needless to say my home office, while studying, was AWFUL...no more!

Thanks for listening.

my desk is on order, when you've had a desk and a phone furnished by the church you take that for granted. As soon as I get one I'll show it to ya'll
