We are entering the season of
visitors at church. More children than usual will be coming into your
classroom or your service, and many of them will be quiet and hard to
reach. Jonathan Cliff shares some practical tips with you on how to get kids to feel less intimidated and open up.
"As a
Small Group leader you need to have the ability to get kids to open up
to you. We need to feel pretty confident that we can get any kid,
anywhere, in most any circumstance to talk with us. You may be
thinking, 'I just wish I could get my kids to STOP talking so much!' But I'm not talking about the kids you know. I'm talking about those first time kids that come into our group.
Can
you get any kid to talk to you? Yes you can, and here are a few
tricks. Feel free to put them to the test, and I guarantee that you
will get a positive response."
We live in a "gimmie-gimmie"
culture that focuses on how much it can get. God wants us to have an
attitude of gratitude for the many blessings we already have.
The
purpose of this unit is not only to help kids focus on being thankful,
but to challenge them to think of some people that they haven't
expressed thanks to, and help them think of some ideas to express their
thanks in practical ways.
Theme Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Ministry planning?
Do you know yet what curriculum you will use? Are you planning a Christmas pageant or play? A program during adult service? Will you deck the halls, classrooms and kids area? Do you have special games planned? How about ways to encourage kids to invite their friends?

Hark is a reporter from the Herald
and is assigned to do a story on the "true meaning of Christmas." Not
knowing where to start, he goes to the house of Dr. Wipplestowski, a crazy inventor who sends him back in time to the first Christmas.
