Do we need a response to Boston?
Several folks have asked me what (or if) there ought to be a children's ministry response the tragic events at the Boston Marathon.

Personally, my 7-year-old knows nothing of this event, nor will he. There is no need for him to know about this, or the death of the 8-year-old at the Marathon. He is slowly learning that we live in a fallen world, but he is learning that well enough through his own daily encounters with others.  He doesn't need to live in fear of events like that, when realistically, the chances of an event this like hitting his life personally are slim.

Interestingly, his aunt (my sister) was at the Boston Marathon the day before to encourage a friend who ran it and finished an hour before the explosions. She ended up choosing not to attend on the day of the event - but all the adults in my family did experience the feeling of wondering if she was there at the finishing line cheering on her friend.  She was inundated with calls, texts and other messages checking in on her.
