My Awesome AdventureNewly revised and updated, My Awesome Adventure is a dynamic follow-up resource for new Christians, as well as an introduction to the Christian faith for kids who are not yet familiar with Christ.

Authored by Karl & Sara Bastian, kids will put on their hiking boots and travel to Yosemite National park to discover what it really means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Karl acts as the in-book guide as he leads Dee, Cy, Paul, Luke, and Laura to towering stone cliffs, beautiful waterfalls, and spectacular views.

On the journey, your kids will discover essential "how-to's" of the faith. They'll learn about God, prayer, the Church, and how to fulfill God's awesome plan for their lives. Each step of the adventure will show more of God's amazing creation and how to follow the Lord every day!

With over 220 scripture references included, this book - with 12 basic discipleship lessons - is available for two age groups: Ages 6-9 and Ages 9-12. The helpful Teacher's Guide has also been revised!

Turn off the DVD player and Draw the Bible
Draw the Bible"Over the summer, I spoke one week at Hartland Bible Camp in California," writes Karl Bastian.  "It was my first time there, but I really loved the experience."

"I wanted to post a few pics about one of my favorite teaching methods... Bible Story Drawing."

"Kids come up to the stage afterward to look at the drawing, and then many copy it throughout the day in their notebooks, which is reinforced learning. They are getting a visual overview of the book/story - which is a great way to learn."

"I wish more teachers would find ways to get rid of the DVD player and teach in new ways that "draw" kids in. It isn't hard, and its actually MORE effective."

Movie Review: Hotel Transylvania
Hotel Transsylvania"This is a film about a father/daughter relationship," explains Kidology Kidmin Pro Nancy Keith in her review of Hotel Transylvania.

"Dracula has a problem. His daughter, Mavis, is turning 118 and wants to spread her wings and fly away. Papa Dracula wants her to stay home where she is protected in a top secret hotel, the Hotel Transylvania, that he built only for monsters. However, when a human backpacker checks in, mayhem breaks loose!"

As with all Kidology movie reviews, we provide children's ministry-oriented teaching tools such as an overview, areas of concern, teachable themes with scripture, and discussion questions.

Tips for Teaching Middle Schoolers
Middle SchoolersTeaching middle schoolers can be intimidating! They just might pull out their smart phone and start texting a friend or fiddle with an app if you don't engage them and capture their attention.

So how do you hold the attention of these busy bodies and minds?

The good news is, middle schoolers provide the best of both worlds. They still enjoy the fun stuff from the world of kids (they aren't 'too cool' to have fun) and yet they are ready to get serious and be challenged, if you are willing to take them there.
