Every ministry is different, and your specific needs will depend greatly on your strengths as the leader. Some of the best leadership advice I ever received was to figure out as soon as possible what my weaknesses were, and then to surround myself with people who were strong in those areas.

For example, I recognize that my greatest strength is leading up front, and one of my weaknesses is remembering mundane details week-to-week. I may ask for something to happen every week, but I will forget to make sure that it does.

I've learned from my own handicaps that most of the time my recruiting problems stem from my own independence and lack of dependence of God. I didn't recruit others because I didn't really believe I needed them OR because I really wasn't willing to let them help me.  Eventually I learned what a blessing a team is!

In the latest installment of The Kids Church Cookbook, Part 6: The Kitchen Crew, we talk about resolving these challenges in order to build teams of both adults and kids to help your ministry run from week-to-week. Don't go it alone!

Future of CM: Technology
Future of CMThe second article in The Future of Children's Ministry series features Todd McKeever discussing decentralized leadership and the use of technology in ministry...
"The new leader/children's pastor will be the one who will harness the use of technology, but will customize that technology to take on an interactive role for all those involved...

We encourage the kids to bring their cell phones instead of trying to prevent them from bringing them. During the service we encourage the kids to text in their questions as I preach. At the end of the service, I answer them from the stage. "

Kidology To Go: Success in Locust Grove!
Kidology To Go
Kidology To Go Director Marty Martin writes:
"With the first Kidology to Go under our belts, I can honestly say that we could never have been blessed with a better host church than Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Children's Pastor Jacob Myers is an upcoming young star who was not only organized and thoughtful, but was also a kind and gracious host. The attendees came from as far as away as 160 miles!"

Movie Review: Megamind
Megamind"The message of redemption is very prevalent," remarks Kidology CP Team member Nancy Keith in her review of Megamind.

"I can imagine using it in children's ministry to talk about the choices we make, including the themes of friendship, forgiveness, goals, and overcoming evil."

As with all Kidology movie reviews, we provide children's ministry-oriented teaching tools such as an overview, areas of concern, teachable themes with scripture, and discussion questions.
